Neyen, Limited Edition.
2021, Apalta Valley, Colchagua Valley, Chile
Profile & Story
A Malbec of distinctive character, with aromas of black fruits and abundant fresh fruit such as plums and cherries, interwoven with subtle notes of spices and violet. Elegantly complex, with ripe, soft, and rounded tannins. A wine of unique and captivating personality. HISTORY: Among the ancestral plots on the Neyen de Apalta estate, parcel 4A lay quietly, home since the 19th century to Malbec vines that for years were harvested together with Cabernet Sauvignon. It was in 2012 when the winemaking and viticulture team turned their attention to them and embarked on the adventure of vinifying them separately, consistent with the essence of crafting genuine wines with minimal intervention. The result is a wine that represents the purest expression of its place, from century-old vines deeply rooted in an exceptional terroir. VINEYARD: A vineyard perfectly adapted to its place, located on the ancient alluvial terraces of the Tinguiririca River, where the Andes and Coastal Mountain ranges converge to form a crescent of hills that protect the century-old vines. SOILS: The volcanic granite soils from the mountains and the clay and silt soils from the river provide natural drainage. In pursuit of the most genuine expression of Neyen’s terroir, organic, biodynamic, and regenerative practices nurture living soils that deliver authentic and pure fruit.
