About the Wine
La Val Albariño 2023 is a white wine from D.O. Rías Baixas, made entirely from Albariño grapes grown in a blend of the winery’s vineyards. Each vineyard contributes distinctive qualities to the wine: granite soils in Taboexa add acidity, alluvial and pebble-rich soils in Arantei and Porto contribute fruitiness and depth, while schist soils in Vilachán bring minerality. The grapes are hand-harvested in 20 kg cases and chilled upon arrival. Approximately 40% of the grapes undergo a cold pellicular maceration at 10°C for four hours. Gentle pressing is followed by a selection of the best free-run juice, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 16–17°C. After fermentation, the wine is aged on its fine lees for three months. The 2023 vintage began on August 30th—one of the earliest harvests in the region’s history. The wine has an alcohol content of 12.5%, a total acidity of 6.6 g/L, a pH of 3.38, and a very low volatile acidity (0.2 g/L). Importer (Arano).
