Aldo Conterno left the family winery (Giacomo Conterno, run by his brother) in 1969 to found Poderi Aldo Conterno in Bussia, Monforte d'Alba, seeking the freedom to experiment with shorter macerations, barriques and earlier-drinking styles. Il Favot is 100% Nebbiolo from vineyards up to 15 years old, given a shorter 6-8 day maceration for a well-colored wine with softer tannins, aged in French barriques.
