Estate Riesling Beerenauslese
2018, Mosel, Germany
Profile & Story
A rich, honeyed dessert wine made from very ripe grapes that have been partially shriveled by "Noble Rot." Beerenauslese (BA) means "berry select" in German. It is the legal Prädikat term for a luscious, late-harvest wine made from grapes that have been partially dried by the botrytis fungus, also known as "Noble Rot." These extremely concentrated, moldy grapes are painstakingly separated from the unaffected fruit and vinified to make one of Germany's most prized vinous treasures.
Tasting Notes
The nose is intensely aromatic, offering notes of ripe apricot, honeycomb, orange marmalade, and citrus zest, complemented by hints of white peach and floral undertones. On the palate, the wine is luscious and velvety, delivering rich flavors of tropical fruits, honey, and candied citrus. Despite the sweetness, it maintains a vibrant acidity that provides freshness and balance, leading to a long, satisfying finish.
Pairing Recommendation
This Beerenauslese pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes, including fruit-based desserts, creamy desserts featuring fresh fruits, foie gras, and rich cheeses like Roquefort.
