Bodega El Esteco, founded in Cafayate in 1892, sells its flagship wines under both the Michel Torino and El Esteco names in tribute to founder David Michel. Don David fruit comes from estate vineyards in the Calchaqui Valley at elevations from roughly 5,500 to over 6,600 feet, and the reserve-tier reds typically spend about 12 months in oak.
