Profile & Story
Bodegas Montebaco is a family winery in Valbuena de Duero, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero appellation, centered on the Finca Monte Alto estate. The property farms its own vineyards and hand-harvests its grapes, fermenting in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks before the wine moves to barrel. Semele is a crianza-style red built mainly from Tempranillo (locally called Tinta del Pais) with a small portion of Merlot, aged twelve months in oak barrels to develop complexity and elegance while keeping its varietal expression and freshness intact.
Tasting Notes
Semele shows a cherry-red color with a ruby edge. The nose is generous with red fruit alongside sweet spice notes of cinnamon, clove, and licorice, layered with toasted hints of coffee and cocoa from its time in barrel. The palate is smooth and fresh, with gentle, well-integrated tannins carrying through to the finish.
