Profile & Story

Joan Rubio spent over a decade as technical director at the renowned Recaredo cava house before returning to his family estate, Cal Tiques, in Santa Margarida i els Monjos in 2015 with his wife Angels. The couple farms under certified organic and biodynamic practices in the Alt Penedes. La Petita is their entry-point cuvee, a blend of Xarel-lo, Sumoll Blanc and Malvasia de Sitges that is hand-harvested and macerated on its skins for about six days, then fermented with native yeasts in a clay amphora and one older barrel for roughly two months before bottling without fining or filtration.

Tasting Notes

Amber-orange hue from skin maceration. The nose shows dried citrus peel, orchard fruit and light herbal tones, with white peach, honeysuckle, flint and fennel character. The palate is fresh and light-bodied, with a lightly textured, grippy character from the skin contact and a clean, refreshing, lingering finish.
