Profile & Story
Valdepedro is Bodegas Ostatu's single-vineyard wine from the Valdepedro plot in Rioja Alavesa (Samaniego), planted 2000-2001 at 635m altitude on limestone soil, organically farmed. Made without added sulfur: cold maceration after soft destemming in stainless steel, alcoholic fermentation with light pump-overs (max 24C), malolactic fermentation gravity-drained into a wooden vat, then aged 7 months in a concrete tank and large-format barrels before bottling.
Tasting Notes
Attractive cherry red color, very bright, medium layer. Aromas of red and fresh fruit such as cherries and wild strawberries, with flower petals and a marked mineral character from the limestone soil giving a fresh, vertical, sharp profile. Smooth entry and velvety palate throughout.
