Appia Antica 400 Rosso is produced by Tenuta Principe Alberico, an estate inside the Appia Antica park just outside Rome, farmed organically for more than fifty years. Its heart is the Historic Vineyard, four rows of Cabernet and four rows of Merlot planted on volcanic, ash-rich soil, joined by Cabernet Franc to complete the blend. Grapes are hand-selected at harvest and on the sorting table before fermenting in truncated-cone cement tanks with minimal sulphites and native yeasts, then aged in traditional oak barrels for six to eight months, bottled at 12.5% ABV.
