Profile & Story
Tenuta Fanti is a family-owned estate located in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, in the southern area of Montalcino, Tuscany, an exceptional terroir for Sangiovese. The Fanti family has been closely connected to this land for generations, with the first Brunello di Montalcino produced in 1980. The estate covers approximately 123 acres of vineyards, primarily planted with Sangiovese, spread across different slopes and altitudes ranging from 490 to 1,410 feet above sea level. This diversity allows Tenuta Fanti to craft wines that combine structure, freshness, elegance, and a clear expression of origin. Viticulture is carried out with a strong focus on sustainability, biodiversity, and vineyard balance. Vinification and aging are managed with precision and respect for tradition, with individual vineyard parcels vinified separately and aged in a combination of large oak casks, tonneaux, and barriques. Tenuta Fanti is best known for its Brunello di Montalcino, alongside Rosso di Montalcino, Sant’Antimo DOC wines, and a limited production of Vin Santo and extra virgin olive oil, all reflecting authenticity, craftsmanship, and a deep connection to the territory.
Tasting Notes
Color: Intense and ruby red color. Nose: intense notes of dark red fruits (small black plums, black cherries under spirit and mulberry) open the aromatic profile that is complex on notes of spices (in which delicate white pepper stands out) and extra dark chocolate. Palate: rich, full-bodied and very persistent. At the entrance you can immediately perceive the complexity and structure of this selection in which the spicy notes make room for the red fruit perceived on the nose. The tannic texture, present but not dominant, accompanies and maintains vivacity.
Pairing Recommendation
This wine pairs beautifully with slow-cooked red meats, game, and rich, savory dishes, as well as aged cheeses. Its depth, persistence, and well-structured tannins also make it an excellent companion to robust cuisine and dishes with pronounced flavors.
