The Leistenberg is Weingut Dönnhoff's oldest vineyard, held by the family for centuries on a steep, southeast-facing slope of gray clay-slate just outside Oberhausen on the Nahe. Morning sun dries the grapes while the vines remain in indirect light through the afternoon, allowing for a long, even ripening period; the site carries VDP Grosse Lage classification. This Kabinett is hand-harvested and vinified gently in a mix of stainless steel and large oak casks in the classic feinherb style, at a light 8.5% alcohol.
