Hervé Rafflin took over his small family winery in the Montagne de Reims in 2001, though the family's roots in Champagne trace back to the 1840s. The five-hectare estate is spread across four villages in the heart of the Montagne de Reims and has been certified organic since 2021, with vines averaging thirty to forty years old. The vineyard is planted predominantly to Pinot Meunier, with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir filling out the rest, and the estate's tiny four-person team makes wines it describes as unpretentious and always reflective of the growing season and the terroir of the Montagne de Reims. La Meunier 1er Cru is a Premier Cru cuvée built around the estate's Pinot Meunier, vinified as an Extra Brut.
