Profile & Story
La Togata is a small family winery in Sant'Angelo in Colle, in the hills of Montalcino, farming vines averaging over 23 years old on tuffaceous clay around 250 meters elevation. The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG (100% Sangiovese) undergoes extended maceration with intense early extraction, then ages three years in Slavonian oak casks followed by a further 12 months refining in bottle; roughly 45,000 bottles are produced each vintage at 14.5% ABV.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby red with garnet nuances, an ethereal and complex bouquet, and a powerful, austere, tannic palate closing on peppery, leathery notes and dark cherry.
Pairing Recommendation
Pairs with red meat, aged cheeses, and traditional cured salami; best served around 18°C.
