Fattoria di Piazzano is a family estate on the hills south of Empoli in Tuscany. Ventoso is a Toscana IGT red made from Sangiovese (90 percent) with Mammolo and other native red grapes, grown on clay-loam soil with rock fragments; it undergoes alcoholic and malolactic fermentation with native yeasts in vitrified cement tanks, with three weeks of maceration on the skins and pumping over the cap.
