About the Wine

Originating from select vineyard blocks at the estate, the grapes for our Bunny Hills Chardonnay were also whole-cluster pressed into juice, but fermentation took place in a combination of thermoregulated stainless steel tanks and once-used French oak, followed by malolactic fermentation. Light on oak stylistically, the wine is mostly driven by stainless steel aging. After six months in fermentation lees, the wine was assembled, lightly filtered, and bottled early to preserve bright aromatics, and its fresh fruit expression.

Tasting Notes

The 2022 Bunny Hills Chardonnay is a bright, beautifully balanced wine with complex layers of juicy orchard fruit and fragrant spice. Enticing aromas of apple custard, buttermilk panna cotta, and fresh-cut hay swirl from the glass, with whispers of minerality and warm vanilla just behind. In the mouth, notes of ripe apple and golden pear surge to the forefront, brightened by gentle lemon acidity and the tangy freshness of peach and nectarine on the midpalate. Medium-bodied, with a smooth fullness, the wine traces the subtle hum of vanilla through a refreshing finish, touching notes of clove, mace, pastry and poached pears on its way.

Pairing Notes

This balanced Chardonnay pairs so well with the creaminess of the cheese, fresh herbs and those end-of-summer garden vegetables.
