Alma 4 was founded in the Uco Valley of Mendoza by four winemakers who met at enology school -- Agustin Lopez, Mauricio Castro, Marcela Manini, and Sebastian Zuccardi -- and together vinified their first 300 bottles of methode traditionnelle sparkling wine in 1998. The estate produces sparkling wine exclusively, sourcing Chardonnay from multiple parcels within the Uco Valley at 1,300-1,550 meters elevation on sandy, stony, calcareous soils. Almacita Brut is 100% Chardonnay, hand-harvested and made by the Charmat method with a secondary fermentation in stainless steel, spending six months on the lees.
