Familia Deicas was founded in Uruguay by the Deicas family, who emigrated from the Alpine town of Bormio, Italy, establishing their winery in 1978; third-generation winemaker Santiago Deicas now leads an increasingly lo-fi program favoring clay amphorae, neutral oak, and co-fermentation. FAAA! Albarino comes from a single 12-acre vineyard in the Juanico subregion of Canelones, just 25km from the Atlantic, first planted to Albarino in 2009. The wine is 100% Albarino, fermented in stainless steel over a 7-day fermentation and aged 5 months on the lees.
