Pasaeli is a family-owned Turkish wine estate founded by Seyit Karagozoglu in 2000 near Izmir in western Turkey, a pioneer of fine wine from Turkey's indigenous grape varieties. The Seahorse rose is made from 100% Calkarasi -- a red grape grown almost exclusively in the Cal district of Denizli, in Turkey's Aegean region -- sourced from a vineyard at 950 meters elevation with vines averaging 25 years old, on sandy, limestone, and clay soils. The grapes see a brief skin maceration for color before fermenting in stainless steel and resting three months on fine lees with weekly stirring for added complexity.
