Profile & Story
Domaine Jean Goulley et Fils is a family estate in La Chapelle-Vaupelteigne, Chablis, whose vineyard history traces back to the 17th century, when the Tremblay family already cultivated vines there. The present estate was formed in the early 1950s through the marriage of Simone Tremblay and Jean Goulley. Their younger son Philippe joined the domaine in 1986, at which point it took its current name, Domaine Jean Goulley et Fils. In 1991 Philippe also founded his own certified-organic domaine (Philippe Goulley) alongside the family estate -- the first organic domaine in Chablis, at a time when only about a dozen organic winegrowers existed in all of Burgundy. The two domaines were later legally reunited under Domaine Jean Goulley et Fils, now fully certified organic (Bureau Veritas / FR BIO 10) and run by Philippe's daughter Maud since 2022. This Petit Chablis comes from a single parcel on the Chablis plateau in the commune of Lignorelles, at roughly 260 meters altitude on deep Portlandian limestone soils, planted 100% to Chardonnay. It is vinified entirely in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and terroir character.
Tasting Notes
Pale yellow with green highlights typical of Chablis, brilliant in the glass. The nose is open and expressive, showing fresh fruit aromas. On the palate, a beautiful round, supple and pleasant attack gives way to appealing citrus notes with good length on the finish.
Pairing Recommendation
Ideally paired with seafood or sushi.
