2023 Benanti Carricante Etna Bianco

Profile & Story

Since 1988, Giuseppe Benanti has worked to demonstrate the potential of Carricante grown on the slopes of Mount Etna, and Benanti Viticoltori remains one of the defining estates on the volcano. This Etna Bianco is sourced from vineyards on the eastern and southern slopes of Etna, planted between 700 and 950 meters on volcanic soils, with vines ranging from 20 to 60 years old. Grapes are hand-harvested in mid-October, destemmed and soft-pressed, then fermented for 12 days in stainless steel using Benanti's own indigenous yeast, selected from the estate's vineyards through years of research, before maturing on fine lees and resting a further 2-3 months in bottle.

Pairing Recommendation

Pairs well with fish and seafood, and is well suited to by-the-glass service; best served at 10-12C.
