Profile & Story

Castello Tricerchi extends over 400 hectares on the northern slopes of Montalcino, with 13 planted to Sangiovese Grosso for Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. The castle at its centre, completed in 1441 by the Tricerchi family, is still the home and headquarters of their direct descendants, the Squarcia family. The Rosso di Montalcino is 100% Sangiovese selected from the vineyards below the castle - Vigna del Piano and Vigna dei Cipressi - macerated in steel at a controlled 23 C for 25 days, then aged at least nine months in 20-hl Slavonian oak casks and refined at least four months in bottle.

Tasting Notes

The estate describes a complex nose with hints of strawberry and cherry jam, lightly spicy, with floral and mineral notes; the palate is balanced and intense, with dense, elegant tannins and a long, savoury, mineral finish.

Pairing Recommendation

The estate suggests white meats, semi-seasoned cheeses and pasta.
