Emilio Vada is a small farm at Coazzolo, among the rolling hills near Alba that form part of the UNESCO-listed Piedmont wine landscape, with certified sustainable viticulture. 'Amaranto' is 100% Dolcetto, grown guyot-trained on calcareous, sandy soils and hand harvested in mid-September. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel with daily pump-overs; after malolactic the wine stays in steel and is bottled in spring. 13.5% alcohol.
Tasting Notes
The producer describes a ruby-red wine with full violet reflections and an intense nose of cherry and ripe plum; the palate is balanced and fresh, rightly tannic, fragrant and vinous, with a pleasantly bitterish aftertaste.
