Castelprile is the Maremma venture of the Stianti Mascheroni family, leaders in Tuscany's organic viticulture movement through their Chianti Classico estate; the 22-hectare Castiglione della Pescaia property, purchased in 2007, marked their first project outside Chianti Classico. 'Prelius' is their Vermentino, organically farmed on clay and sandy soils with southern exposure on a hilltop just five miles from the sea, and vinified in French oak and tonneau with extended lees contact before bottling.
