Bruno Duchêne left a career as a wild-mushroom distributor to move to Banyuls-sur-Mer in 2000, making his first vintage in 2002; he lives aboard his boat, Odin, much of the year. His 4-hectare estate spans four parcels of steep, terraced schist at varying altitudes and exposures on the Côte Vermeille, farmed organically without certification – only a few sulfur treatments a year, no copper, and no sulfur added at any point in vinification. ‘La Luna’ comes from co-planted old vines of Grenache Noir, Gris and Blanc with Carignan, including fruit from organically-farmed neighboring growers, fermented spontaneously in tank before aging in barrel (including old Burgundy barrels).
