Celler Cooperatiu d'Espolla was founded in 1931 by a group of Emporda winemakers looking to improve the quality and commercialization of their wines; the cooperative's building, inaugurated later that same year, drew its architecture from Catalonia's great 'wine cathedrals.' Solera 1931 is their flagship Garnatxa d'Emporda, made from a blend of White Grenache and the local Rosé Grenache variant, fortified partway through fermentation and then aged oxidatively in wood via a solera system dating to the winery's founding year.
Tasting Notes
Intense amber color with green and antique-gold reflections; a complex nose of preserved and dried fruit with pastry notes, balanced sweetness, and a long, intense finish.
