Profile & Story

The Dauny family has farmed the Champtin hillsides of Sancerre since 1683; Nicole and Christian Dauny represent the twelfth generation, with sons Benoit and Thibaut now the thirteenth. The estate converted entirely to organic viticulture in 1964 and formally became Vignobles Dauny in 1985. Four hectares of Pinot Noir on limestone soils, from vines around 20 years old, go into this Sancerre Rouge, fermented in stainless steel and sealed under natural cork for early, fruit-forward drinking.

The producer recommends it with white meats, game birds, and cheeses, or lightly chilled alongside fish.
