Along the steep, narrow valley of the northern Rhone, Domaine Faury is one of the region's most artisanal producers, working in Cote-Rotie, Condrieu and Saint-Joseph. When Philippe Faury took over in 1979 the family was selling wine, peaches and cherries to a largely local clientele; he expanded the holdings to over eleven hectares and built an international following, and in 2006 his son Lionel took over as vineyard and cellar manager. Saint-Joseph 'Les Ribaudes' is Syrah from steep slopes facing south to south-east, hand-picked and aged 10 months on the lees — 30% in one- to five-year-old barrels and 70% in stainless steel.
