Profile & Story
Moric is Roland Velich's Burgenland estate, built on the conviction — in his own words, "I want to create originals" — that Blaufrankisch from old vines deserves to be treated as a serious, terroir-driven variety. The Blaufrankisch Burgenland 2023 combines fruit from the Leitha mountains and from Lutzmannsburg, vinified separately in wooden casks ranging from 500 to 2,000 litres.
Tasting Notes
Falstaff (Peter Moser, 94 points) finds Amarena cherry, forest berry, clove and liquorice, with crunchy red fruit, fine spice and silken tannins in a cool, mineral frame; James Suckling (93 points) calls it supervibrant and energetic for an entry-level Blaufrankisch.
