Pride Mountain Vineyards sits high above Napa Valley on Spring Mountain, on the site of the historic Summit Ranch, where wine grapes have been grown since 1885; the property straddles the Napa-Sonoma county line, which is why the wine carries both counties. The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is 52% Sonoma / 48% Napa fruit, blended 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7.5% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 1.5% Cabernet Franc. Harvested in October 2021, fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak, it was bottled in July 2023 at 14.6% alcohol; 5,628 cases were made.
Tasting Notes
Blackberry, currant and plum lead to seductive flavours of cedar box and summer savory. The tannins are mouthfilling and luxurious in the way that only mountain fruit can achieve. The balance is precise, offering enough tension to intrigue the senses and welcoming you to another sip; the acid that so elegantly frames the richness of this wine will allow it to age gracefully and completely over the next 10 to 25 years.
