Belle Glos was named by owner and winemaker Joe Wagner in honor of his grandmother, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner, who co-founded Caymus Vineyards in 1972 with her husband Charlie Sr. and son Chuck, Joe's father, and who passed on her deep passion for Pinot Noir. The winery focuses on single-vineyard Pinot Noir from cool coastal California sites, each farmed and vinified to reflect its own fog, wind, sunlight, and soil. Clark & Telephone Vineyard, planted in 1972 near the corner of Clark Avenue and Telephone Road in the Santa Maria Valley, is the oldest producing vineyard in the appellation, planted on its own roots to the heirloom Martini clone of Pinot Noir and cooled by wind and fog carried along a channel of the Santa Maria River. The 2023 Belle Glos Clark & Telephone Pinot Noir is crafted from this historic, own-rooted heirloom-clone fruit, reflecting the vineyard's coastal, fog-influenced character.
