Weingut Karl Erbes is a family estate in Ürzig on the Mosel, established in 1967 by Karl Erbes; his son Stefan Erbes joined the business in 1984 and has run it since 2002, continuing the family's work after Karl Erbes's passing in 2022. The estate farms 5 hectares planted exclusively to Riesling, including own-rooted vines 70 to 80 years old, across steep, red-slate vineyard sites such as Ürziger Würzgarten, Ürziger In der Kranklei, Erdener Treppchen and Erdener Prälat, all hand-harvested. As Stefan Erbes states, "all wines are cultivated, tended, and bottled under our care." Karl Erbes's Riesling reflects this Mosel estate style, grown on the region's mineral-rich slate soils, showing the cool-climate, mineral, vibrant character typical of Mosel Riesling.
