Piccini 1882 traces its roots to Poggibonsi in the Chianti hills, where Angiolo Piccini founded the winery in 1882 on the belief that passion matters more than scale. Now in its fifth generation under siblings Ginevra, Benedetta, and Michelangelo, the family has grown from a single plot into a multi-estate producer spanning Tuscany and beyond while keeping its roots in Chianti. Poggio Alto is an IGT Toscana red blend of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot, 5% Colorino, and 5% Cabernet, sourced from vineyards twelve to fifteen years old in central-southern Tuscany. The wine is made using the traditional Tuscan method Governo all'uso Toscano, in which a portion of dried grapes is added after primary fermentation to induce a secondary fermentation, yielding a ruby-red wine with notes of ripe red cherry and violet that is generous, full-bodied, smooth, and harmonious.
