About the Wine
Origin and terroir: This new wine is a blend of several terroirs. Indigenous Areni and Voskehat from Aghavnadzor vineyards, Vayots Dzor region: soil- volcanic and limestone, altitude 1300-1400 m a.s.l. Aligote from Ararat valley, soil- volcanic and clay, altitude 1000-1100 m a.s.l. Yield: limited to 60-80 cwt/ha. Vinification: Varieties were fermented separately in barrels and in stainless steel tanks. A whole bunch of subtle press was used for Areni Noire. Barrel aging: little or no aging. Blend: 40% Voskehat, 40% Aligote, 20% Areni. Alcohol content: 14%. Malahi is the ancient name for Areni, Armenia’s primary red grape variety. During the Soviet period, the name was forcefully changed to Areni. The slogan of the wines is “Crossing parallels”: the meeting point of international and indigenous varieties and winemaking worlds. The artwork on the label is named “Chameleon” and was created by architect Ararat Haydeyan.
