About the Wine
The 2024 Orangotango is a skin-contact wine inspired by Italian winemaking traditions and crafted in California. It is made from white wine grapes fermented on their skins for 12 hours to 4 months, with some barrels undergoing carbonic fermentation. The wine is gently filtered using cross-flow filtration for stability and polish. Native yeast is used without nutrient addition, and the wine is bottled with around 20 parts free SO2. Grapes are sourced from certified organic, organic, and SIP-certified vineyards, including Jack Knife, Blind Faith, Margett, Ca-Ne Rosso, and Margarita. The wine has an alcohol content of 12.5% and an annual production of 1,203 cases.
Tasting Notes
The wine has aromas of dried apricot, fresh mango, orange oil, and green tea. The palate features flavors of pomelo, bitter marmalade, and Ceylon black tea.
Pairing Notes
Pairs well with aperitivo hour bites or lemon ricotta ravioli.
