Anselmo Mendes, born in Monção in the Vinho Verde region, is considered one of Portugal's leading white-wine producers and a pioneer of serious Alvarinho; he began making wine under his own name in 1998. Pássaros blends Loureiro from the Lima Valley — prized for its freshness, lemon character, and floral acidity — with Alvarinho.
