La Antigua Clásico is made by Alberto Orte in an unheralded corner of DOCa Rioja, along the western Sierra de la Demanda. The wine draws on old vines planted between 1940 and 1955 and spends an extended 24 months in stainless steel followed by 24 months in a mix of French and American oak — well beyond the minimum required for the Crianza designation — aiming for an elegance and silky texture unusual at this age level.
Tasting Notes
Bright ruby in color, with a lively aroma of spice, red and dark berries, vanilla, and wood; the palate offers black raspberry and rose, gentle tannins, and a smooth, persistent finish.
