Profile & Story

Barbichette is the label of Cesar Vega and Louisiane Remy, the Brooklyn-based couple behind the direct-trade coffee company Cafe Integral, who began making natural wine in 2019 after being offered a small allotment of Seneca Lake fruit in New York's Finger Lakes. What started as a 25-case side project has grown into roughly 1,300 cases across seven cuvees, all sourced from organic and sustainably farmed vineyards on Seneca Lake and made without SO2, fining, filtration, or other additives.

Tasting Notes

Pompette is a direct-press wine made by pressing freshly picked Pinot Noir on top of just-pressed, macerated Pinot Noir skins, which gives it the structure and brightness of an orange wine despite the rose method. It shows unfettered notes of grapefruit, bitter orange, and strawberry leaf, with buzzy, youthful energy and a light effervescence.
