Giovanni Almondo is a family estate in Montà d'Alba, in Piedmont's Roero appellation; the Almondo family has been part of the local civic registry since the 1300s and has long lived at Vittori di Montà, historically the heart of the area's country life and today the center of its Arneis vineyards. Fosso della Rosa, the estate's Brachetto bottling, comes from Domenico Almondo's smallest holding, farmed in sandy-calcareous soil (roughly 70% sand, 15% silt and 15% clay) at 320 meters with an eastern exposure. The wine undergoes a brief five-day cold maceration to preserve the grape's delicate aromatics and is intended to be served around 10°C (50°F).
