Profile & Story

Niepoort is a historic port house founded in 1842 in Portugal's Douro Valley; through its Niepoort Projectos arm it has since expanded into still-wine projects across several Portuguese regions, including Vinho Verde. Docil is made from 100% Loureiro sourced from vines over 20 years old grown on granite soils in the Lima Valley. The grapes are whole-bunch pressed gently with no maceration, settled, and fermented at low temperature in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation, then aged five months in stainless steel before bottling.

Tasting Notes

Pale and bright in the glass, Docil is highly aromatic, showing white flowers, citrus fruit, green apple, and mineral notes on the nose. The palate is crisp and citrus-driven, with mineral-laced acidity, a light body, and a fresh, saline-tinged finish.
