Pax Mahle Wines farms and sources fruit under practicing-biodynamic principles, working The Bench Vineyard in the Clements Hills AVA of Lodi, where fine-grained sandy granite and tufa soils and cooling influence from the Golden Gate wind gap temper the region's heat. This 100% Syrah undergoes 100% whole-cluster fermentation and is aged six months in neutral 500-liter French oak puncheons, bottled at 13% abv with minimal sulfur (12 ppm free SO2 at bottling).

Jeb Dunnuck describes the 2023 as inky purple with magenta highlights, built from Fonsalette-inspired whole-cluster winemaking; white pepper, blackberries, brambly herbs, tea leaf and clean, stony earth emerge with air on a full-bodied yet focused palate with beautifully defined tannins and excellent length.
