Profile & Story

Vittorio Bera e Figli farms 12 certified-organic hectares in Canelli, at the historic heart of Piedmont's Moscato d'Asti production; the family estate was among the first in the area to bottle and market its own Moscato d'Asti under its own label. The Canelli bottling is made from Moscato Bianco grapes grown on calcareous, marl-rich soil of marine origin, trained by Guyot at roughly 5,000 vines per hectare from vines averaging 40 years of age, with yields held to about 50 hectoliters per hectare. After gentle pressing and static settling, the must ferments naturally with indigenous yeasts in a pressure tank (autoclave), and the finished wine — around 150 grams per liter of residual sugar — is only lightly clarified and filtered to preserve its aromatic character.

Tasting Notes

Classic Canelli-zone Moscato d'Asti: pale straw in color, gently frizzante, with a floral, orchard-fruit nose of white peach, orange blossom and sage, light body, low alcohol, and a sweet, delicate palate lifted by fresh acidity.
