ZaHa is one of two labels (alongside sibling wine Teho) from co-winemakers and co-owners Alejandro 'Colo' Sejanovich and Jeff Mausbach, whose vineyards sit in Paraje Altamira in the Uco Valley — a high-altitude (roughly 4,000 feet), cool-climate zone the winemakers describe as 'refrigerated sunshine,' with diverse sandy, rocky, silty and limestone soil patches that lend floral, mineral, dark-fruit and complexity notes respectively. ZaHa means 'heart' in the region's native Huarpe language. The Toko Vineyard Malbec co-ferments roughly 90% Malbec with small portions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for added complexity and concentration.
