Profile & Story
Ferrando is a five-generation family winery founded in 1890 by Giuseppe Ferrando in Ivrea, in the Canavese district at the northern edge of Piedmont; the estate is best known for pioneering Carema. The Canavese Rosso is a blend of Nebbiolo/Picotener (~65%), Barbera (~30%) and the local Neretta grape (~5%), from the Torrazza vineyard in Borgomasino on glacial granitic moraine. Indigenous-yeast fermentation in stainless steel, aged 12-15 months in stainless plus about a year in bottle.
Tasting Notes
Producer tasting notes: ruby red and extremely brilliant, with a floral and fruity nose of raspberry and strawberry plus pleasant spicy notes; the palate is smooth and fresh with delicate tannins.
