Profile & Story

Fonseca is a storied Port house founded in 1822, part of the Fladgate Partnership (with Taylor's and Croft) and long imported to the US by Kobrand. The 10 Year Old Tawny is a blend of barrel-aged wines from multiple harvests, averaging a decade in seasoned oak casks, made from the traditional Douro red grapes (principally Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz/Tinta Barroca) grown on the Douro's schist terraces.

Producer/importer tasting notes: amber-tawny in color with aromas of dried fruit, toffee and toasted nuts; a smooth, silky palate balancing sweetness with gentle oxidative complexity and a warm, nutty finish.
