Domaine Serol is a five-generation family estate in the Cote Roannaise, a little-known appellation of the southern Loire Valley near the river's source in the Massif Central. Stephane Serol took over from his father Robert in 1996 and, with his wife Carine, converted the estate's 38 hectares to organic and biodynamic farming, planting at high density on granite-sand hillsides at 400-550m, farming almost exclusively the local Gamay Saint-Romain grape. Eclat de Granite blends several granite-hillside parcels; hand-harvested, fermented in concrete tanks with 20-30% whole clusters and indigenous yeasts, aged about 11 months in cement tanks. ABV 12-12.5%.
