Profile & Story
Maison Gamet is a fourth-generation, family-run Champagne grower-producer based in Mardeuil, in the Vallee de la Marne, now run by siblings Marianne and Jean-Francois Gamet (who took over from parents Fabienne and Philippe). The estate farms just over 8 hectares, worked predominantly to Meunier, and practices organic/sustainable viticulture. Rive Droite is a Blanc de Noirs drawn from Right Bank vineyards in Fleury-la-Riviere and Damery, where soils are cold, humid and clay-rich (green clays, white marl, sand), from vines 40-50 years old. The blend is 85% Meunier and 15% Pinot Noir, including 30% reserve wine. It is vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel, goes through full malolactic fermentation and five months of aging in tank, then rests a minimum of 20 months on the lees before disgorgement, with a dosage of 4 g/L.
Tasting Notes
Pale straw in color, with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose shows dried white cherry, raspberry, almond blossom and blood orange peel; the silky palate brings dried pear, kirsch, cinnamon and light spice, finishing with a clean, saline, mouthwatering tang.
