Profile & Story
Aperture Cellars was founded by winemaker Jesse Katz in Sonoma County. This 2022 Bordeaux blend (36% Malbec, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc) is sourced entirely from hillside vineyards with clay-loam soil that helps concentrate berry size and extend ripening. Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted, given a 4-7 day cold soak, then fermented 14-28 days with native yeast before malolactic fermentation and 18 months of sur-lees aging in 50% new French oak (59- and 70-gallon barrels); the wine is unfined, unfiltered and un-acidified (14.5% ABV).

Ripe red fruit characters are structured by silky, seamless tannins, showcasing an elegant density across the blend -- per winemaker Jesse Katz, crafted as 'primarily Merlot and Malbec, with a delicate balancing of smaller inclusions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.'
