Derwent Estate Calcaire Chardonnay 2024

Profile & Story

Derwent Estate has farmed the historic Mt Nassau property just north of Hobart since 1913, now in its third generation of the same family. Calcaire is named for the estate's unique calcareous subsoil, a rare pocket in Tasmania with high subsoil calcium comparable to Champagne, the Loire Valley and Burgundy; the wine is fermented with wild yeast and integrated French oak, with multiple malolactic strains and light autolytic character (13.5% ABV).
