Bodegas Granbazán was founded in 1981 in the Salnés Valley in Rías Baixas, Galicia, housed in a neoclassical building with Indian architectural influences deliberately oriented to shield it from the south's stronger sun. The winery was conceived with the ambition of producing wines that authentically reflect the valley's distinctive microclimate, and its early work helped spur a broader transformation of viticulture in Galicia; today it positions itself as a benchmark for research and innovation in the region. For more than 30 years, Granbazán has worked with around 80 grower families across Cambados, Vilanova, and Meaño in the heart of the Salnés Valley, drawing on more than 100 micro-plots of granitic soil beside the Ría de Arousa. Albariño is the estate's signature grape, and the Atlantic Ocean's maritime breezes are credited with lending the wines a subtle saline freshness, while temperate conditions and regular rainfall support the variety's ripening. The winery's flagship vineyard, the Tremoedo Estate, sits about three kilometers from Cambados; more recently, Granbazán has introduced a sheep-grazing program using the Texel breed to improve soil health and reduce its carbon footprint, alongside vegan and quality-tourism certifications. Etiqueta Verde Albariño 2024 is described by the winery as the classic expression and essence of the Salnés Valley, made from 100% Albariño under the DO Rías Baixas designation and reaching 13% alcohol. Albariños from this part of the Salnés Valley, grown on granitic soils under strong Atlantic influence, typically show a pale straw-yellow color with aromas of citrus, white flowers, and green apple, a saline, mineral edge, and a fresh, light-to-medium-bodied palate with crisp acidity and a clean finish.
