Bonavita is the small estate of Giovanni Scarfone, farming steep organic vineyards above Faro Superiore on the Strait of Messina, in Sicily's oldest DOC, first established in 1976. Only indigenous grapes are grown: Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Nocera. The Rosato is a blend of these three varieties, hand-harvested, briefly macerated on the skins, and aged in steel.
